CAJUN FRIED SHRIMP

Crispy, crunchy, and spicy. Soon to be a favorite weekend dish

FRIED SHRIMP RECIPE INGREDIENTS :

12 large shrimp, peeled and deveined
2 cups canola oil
Cajun spice blend
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup milk
2 eggs
½ lb yellow cornmeal
½ lb flour

FRIED SHRIMP RECIPE DIRECTIONS :

Slice shrimp open in a butterfly and rinse.
Set aside while making the batter.

Beat together milk, buttermilk, and eggs until smooth.
In another bowl, stir together cornmeal and flour.
Holding each shrimp by its tail, dip first into Cajun spices, then into the egg mixture.
Let excess drip off before one more dip in the cornmeal mixture.
Make sure it's well coated.

In a deep fryer or pan, heat canola oil to 350F and fry shrimp until nicely browned.
Each shrimp will take around 4 minutes.
Set aside to drain off the oil, and then serve.
